Secret Language of Babies!
• Neh (La La sound)
"I'm hungry" The "N" sound comes from the suckling reflex. The baby is putting their tongue to the top of their mouth, like they do when they suckle.
• Owh
"I'm sleepy". This reflex sound is tied to the yawn reflex.
• Heh
"I'm uncomfortable". This is the cry a baby makes when they are too warm, too cold, need their diaper changed, or are otherwise "in distress".
• Eair
"I have lower gas." This sound is a deeper cry than others – often sounding like a grunt – and is sometimes accompanied by a drawing up of the legs. This cry means the baby probably needs to have a bowel movement, or has intestinal gas.
• Eh
"I need to burp." This is a reflex sound that a baby makes when it it trying to push air out of its stomach.
As part of the Oprah segment, a tape was shown of Dunstan sitting in a room with eight new mothers and their babies, including one set of twins. She explained her cry theory and, as a baby would start to cry, she worked with the mother to show her what her newborn was telling her. The results were amazing! The mothers and their babies were also in the audience on the day the program was recorded (several weeks after the initial taping had been made) and each one told stories of how much better they were doing with their babies now that they understood what their babies were telling them. One mother even said she had finally been able to take HER FIRST NAP since her baby had been born!!
On Nov 27th...
so we went to the hospital at around 11-1130 and 1230 they told me about these and monitored me for some more time and at around 2-3 i guess gave this IV and I started getting contractions, and then took me in to a delivery room and at around 430 I guess when the doc came and checked me I was 4cm dialted but till then nurse and all told me its lil hard to dialte from 1 to 4...and then I took epidural...till then it was painful, then its a picnic :-)
At around 5 they gave me oxttocin (Induced), I started getting regular contractions, every 3 min..but didnt feel the pain coz of epidural...So kash and my dad told me, it will take like 6-8hrs to dialte 10, so they will go and get some food for them, so for next day also they dont have to worry, they expected the delivery wud be around 11 or 12...they left like 6-615 I guess, around 7.30 again his heartbeat went down to 120 it seems IDK, nurse came and checked me and found I am dialted to 9cm!!, and she told me she will set everything and call the doc too, I mightve to push in another 30min...I was like whattttt? Kash is not there with me, I told my mom to call them, and she gave a ring and fortunately he picked up the phone (usually we wont hear the ring sound miss all our calls IDK what is the prb with our cell), and mom conveyed the message and asked them come immediately...till 8 they didnt come, I felt so bad I want kash to be withme during delivery and want him see the baby as soon as he comes out....and at around 8.00 doctor came in, she is fantastic and nurse peggy too...they are all really amazing...and kash and dad came in, and then I told them to reduce the edidural so that I can feel the pressure...coz i didnt feel anything, doc told me to push if i didnt do well they will reduce it....and when she told me to push I did...she was like u r pushing as though u delivered 100babies :-), so during my 3rd contraction she told me push and told me to hold my right leg towards me and head down towards chest and told me to push, I did, she said again I did 2 more times, and the baby is out :-)...
All done in 26min...I delivered the baby....he has this contented look...oh sooooooo cute and sweet!
Motherhood
We came up with shravan, aarav, dhruv, pranav, Adithya etc etc and also asked our relatives to send list of names ...atlast when the time comes to give his name, suddenly kashi said why dont we name him as Rishi, ofcourse once we thought about that name and checked the numeralogy too..but I want to name him as Aarav or Dhruv or Shravan, Kashi came up with all the negatives in it :-) i guess it happens to all the mom and dad...whatever dad says mom will say the negatives in it and vice versa...He wanted to name him as Vishwamitr (world friend), Mrithunjai, Kashyap (Kashi - Ramya = kashya), Thryambak - toooooooo much right..all sages - rishis name thats y I guess we kept a common name Rishi..and also no one can shorten it and while calling him in india or U.S cant spoil the name as ours...Radhina thats what they call me..and Kashi's name cant even imagine horrible when they call him over the phone, thats y his collegues call him kash :-)
mmm Ok overall my time is totally occupied...I guess till we get used to the routine, I will be tired and sleepy...:-) but I totally enjoy this motherhood (appa title vandruchu)

Car seat confusion
How ru doing? Happy Karthigai deepam...I am in the process of buying baby items, first thing we have to buy is car seat here, whether u have a car or not without car seat they wont allow you to take the kid out of the hospital (!!??), so the thing is we decided to buy the infant rear facing car seat, first we thought of buying convertible car seat, so that we dont have to spend again for car seat after 6 months but the prb with that is u cant carry it around, its heavy and also it has no option to carry around (when I checked it looks like that), so we decided infant car seat, Graco, 8-20 lbs (right?), 5 point harness system...these r the things we have to look right?..so If anyone have good suggestion about it pls do tell me soon. Its tooo late to post it now..coz I want to buy the same in couple of days...just 2 more weeks to my due date...(hee hee)...I checked the craigslist also thinking of buying one from that, convincing price since we have to change it after 6 months I dont want to spend 150-170 dollers on it..(I am planning to buy car seat and stroller together lets see)...
These are the list I made to buy for the baby if there is anything else do tell me....
1. Car seat and stroller
2. Fleece dress, Gloves, cap, shoes (socks i have) - 2 sets min
3. baby bag
4. baby bath items - baby oil, soap, shampoo, lotion, diaper rash cream
5. baby set - cleaning & thermometer
6. Convertible crib - need to check
7. diapers, wipes
8. Infant sling (baby carrier)
9. Head body support stuffs - need to check dont know whether we need this...
10. First aid kit
11. I got the blankets, bathtub and musical bouncer and few (not few more from india) dresses
Is there anything else?
All my well wishers out there pls pray for me to deliver the baby in normal delivery...Baby is little big as per the doctors predictions his head is 10cm, 8 pounds already :-)...so I need your blessings, prayers and wishes..
Thank you in advance :-)

32 week
Follow the 5-1-1 rule:
1. Contraction every 5 min
2. It occurs for every 1 min
3. continues for 1 hour.....
If so, call the hospital take your packed stuffs, and go to hospital...If it is a braxton-hicks the intensity will be same, it wont increase with time, it wont follow the 5-1-1 rule, so I can tell you more precisely once i get those :-)..right now I am not feeling false pains..
And another thing if your water broke, rem TACO, note the T- time, A- Amount, C- colour, O- Odour..its usually colorless nad odourless...so if your water broke check these TACO and tell your midwife/doctor and they want to do the delivery in 24hrs...if all the water is gone, baby will have tough time inside...
OK about me, I am doing pretty good, just day before yesterday I got panicked since i didnt felt any movement...so I lie down and started counting, he made 10 kicks in 45min...doctor told me to check for 2hrs if the baby made 10kicks in 2hrs its fine otherwise u have to call the doctor....but usually most of the times he used to make those 10 kicks in just 15-30min....sometimes in 5 min...
anyway nowadays he is kicking me in the bones sometimes its little painful, but I like it....naming process stilllll going onnnnnn
Ok byeee all

29th week
The biggest project which is still going on and on is selecting a name, I guess for everyone its a big project....I selected so many names till now, Kash didnt like it, and the name he was suggesting I didnt like it, he want to keep a name like vishwamitr meaning world friend, meaning is good, but the name is tooooooooo old, its a sage name....he like thryambak, mrithunjai....noway I can keep those names.....I wanted to list out Vishnu sahasranamam names and Lalitha sakasranamam names...but I am too lazy to do that...will do it soon...
And my tummy is showing up very well nowadays, so wherever I go I get special attention, ppl offering me seats, showing me some empty seat as soon as I got in to max or bus :-), nice...sometimes I feel little uneasy about these attentions though....
Started looking for baby stuffs....ppl who read or going to read (hee hee) pls if you know any tips ideas on reducing the cost in buying things pls do add a comment .....
Thank you so much in advance
bye for now
Have a nice day!

ABC's of daily care
Its a DVD presentation, so I am little confused to mention he or she, let me say she..will share some of the nice tips with u all..
1. Consider the pediatrician by fixing an appointment with him/her, and choose some of the questions to know him better, I forgot to take notes of it, I guess u can get it from net definitely. (thats really a nice idea)
2. And then check whether the doctor is included in your insurance
3. Check the environment of your pediatrician hospital whether its clean, and etc
Bathing issues:
1. Shampoo the baby once or twice a week only, and after that make sure you dried the baby properly otherwise there is a chance for him/her to get cradle cap.
2. Temp should be below 90F. Use your elbow to make sure the water temperature..
3. Bath from head to toe
4. If you find any diaper rashes put proper ointment for that.
5. First few months keep the baby away from direct sunlight.
6. Use SF15 sun screen lotion
And massaging the baby (massge the toes legs...) will help babies growth...
I guess this weekend is going to be fun...lets see
Breastfeeding class is on saturday...planned to attend that too.

22 weeks..
Priya (one of my closest friend) gave birth to a boy baby on saturday. But she is in her 36th week only...her BP is high from 30th week...On saturday eve when her husband came from the hospital (he is a child specialist), he saw her face swelled and immediately he took her to hospital for checkup, and the doctor suggested its better to do C-section then itself, so did it at 6.42PM, new addition in to her family. He is underweight, 1700gms, so he is in the incubator, he has 31 week growth only, after her BP he didnt grow....stress reduced his growth...Mom and the baby is doing fine...once she can able to feed him, he will be alright. But for now he couldnt do that as he has no strength to do that...but she started feeding him from yesterday, after few seconds he became tired...I guess in a week he'll do fine...God be with them...
A year ago, she is pregnant with a girl baby, her BP is too high, its 220 in her 5th month and she lost the baby..thats y doctors this time suggested C-section...Last time I couldnt understand her pain, I felt y she is having this much regret, she can gave birth to another baby otherwise also she can adopt a child...But after 5months losing the baby is mmm yeah its not that easy as i thought..I felt that pain when I the doctors said baby has increased downsyndrome...Now everything is normal but those few days is hell...
Ok chao ppl...Eat well, sleep well, no pressure, no tension...Relax and Be happy always...

20 Weeks pregnant
During night I used to sleep on the left side but sometimes i rollover and sleep on the right side too..but half of my tummy will be like inside the bed..so in the morning i feel like I might've hurted the baby with the way I sleep..I hope I didnt..but everymorning I have that feeling I couldnt avoid that...but there is no other way u can sleep obviously either left or right, u cant sleep in straight form after sometime u wont feel comfortable, though u feel its nice for the back ;-D...if anyone has any opinion abt this do add a comment. I am soo worried about hurting the baby....I do keep pillows below the tummy and in between my legs sometime but not all the time thought...22nd week ultrasound will help me in this I guess when i see the baby I may feel good. I guess I should have some ultrasound kinda system at home to make sure ;-D..
I really started enjoying the pregancy now ;-D coz of the movements which is so special for the mommy..yeah dad cant feel it now ;-D

SPD exercises and tips
Tighten stomach muscles, then slowly raise your bums off floor. Hold 5 seconds, relax repeat the same for 5times first if u felt relief slowly increase the count to 10times, do it 1-2 sessions per day...gently,no pain..
and ppl who have the same problem can try this, but which one might've different prbs coz of that they might got the pain...so try it once or twice see if u find any small relief in your pain then continue..when i turn the bed and try to tighten the stomach muscles I felt the pain is little less than before..so I continued to do that...
Tips:
* Use a pillow between your legs when sleeping; body pillows are a great investment!
* Use a pillow under your 'bump' (pregnancy tummy) when sleeping
* Keep your legs and hips as parallel/symmetrical as possible when moving or turning in bed
* Some women also find it helpful to have their partners stabilize their hips and hold them 'together' when rolling over in bed or otherwise adjusting position
* Some women report a waterbed mattress to be helpful
* Silk/satin sheets and nighties may make it easier to turn over in bed
* Swimming may help relieve pressure on the joint (many sites recommend avoiding breaststroke but Kmom did not find it to be a problem at all for her; see what works for you)
* Deep water aerobics or deep water running may be helpful as well (there are flotation devices to help you stay afloat easily during this; you do not need to know how to swim in order to do this)
* Keep your legs close together and move symmetrically (other sources recommend a very small gap between the legs with symmetrical movement)
* When standing, stand symmetrically, with your weight evenly distributed through both legs
* Sit down to get dressed, especially when putting on underwear or pants
* Avoid 'straddle' movements
* Swing your legs together as a unit when getting in and out of cars; use plastics or something smooth and slippery (like a garbage bag) on the car seat to help you enter car backwards and then turn your legs as a unit
* An ice pack may feel soothing and help reduce inflammation in the pubic area; painkillers may also help
* Move slowly and without sudden movements
* If sex is uncomfortable for you, use lots of pillows under your knees, or try other positions
* If bending over to pick up objects is difficult, there are devices available that can help with this
* Really severe cases may need crutches, although these should probably only be used as a last resort
* Sciatica may be helped by stretching the hamstring muscles with a stirrup around your foot (long piece of rope, two neck ties tied together, etc.) See the Elizabeth Noble book for directions (resources)
* Back pain can often be helped by resting backwards over a large gymnastic or 'birth' ball (see resources)
* Some women report that pelvic binders/maternity support belts are helpful for pelvic pain; brands in the U.S. include Prenatal Cradle or BabyHugger or the Reenie Belt. However, if the pelvic bones are really misaligned, some women report more pain with these. Listen to your body on whether to use these

18weeks 5 days!
For me I feel the pain when i turn left to right in bed or vice versa, when i walk for a while, when I sat for sometime and stand I feel the sharp pain on my left side of groin...its little worse during night turning over the bed, when i change my dress...Doctor told me to consult a physiotherapist and we went there yesterday, and also she suggested to try to wear my dress by sitting keeping both legs together (it works i didnt feel the pain when i change my dress like that), She said my hip bone alignment is very slightly above and below, its asymmetric...but very little..that may be the cause for the pain..she told me to squeeze the tummy i mean while u do situp u'll do, it will come together right something like when u sit and watch tv, she told me to do that as a exercise slightly (not by hand, or not by holding breath) and I have enrolled for 8 classes...oh baby..I started to feel the pain from the month of may, May end...we went for a hike in columbia gorge its just 2-3 miles hike...so after that I started feeling this I guess if I rem correctly.....all i pray to god is this pain shouldnt cause any trouble during delivery....
I checked the internet and found few has worse pain in that area, but mine is bearable, most of the ppl I know didnt even know what it is :-(...
but rest is fine, no vomitting, I eat well...no prbs with smells, but still I didnt try adding sesame seeds (kadugu) though for sambar, rasam, poriyal etc..started cooking, cleaning etc all the household works..i feel normal as before...2nd trimester is really good...
ppl who r in U.S check out babysrus, I heard they have free prenatal exercises and classes so check it out on the internet whether its true, i have to, i heard from a friend didnt check whether its applicable in my area babys r us...

Amniocentesis procedure
This test is performed to detect chromosomal disorders. If in your 3rd month ultrasound they found increased risk in downsyndrome, they will suggest you to do this. Since ultrasound test false positive rate is high. But amniocentesis 95% u'll get perfect result. u can even say 99%.
How it is performed?
ultrasound guided procedure, so harming the baby, u can say .001%. Usually experts only do this procedure. They will find the exact location of fetus thru ultrasound, long thin needle is inserted through the abdomen and in to the uterus. A small amount of amniotic fluid, which surrounds the baby is collected for the test.
How painful it is?
I did the test. I didnt feel the pain at all. Its just a min procedure..If they found the baby move inside or towards the needle will wait for 10-15 sec..In my case, I was looking at the monitor when they insert the needle, I found the baby is moving as though he want to grab the needle, so I was little worried about that.....but everything is fine. Waiting period for the test result is little painful ;-D...
Risks involved...
There is a slight chance of infection or injury to the fetus. There is even a smaller chance of miscarriage. This test is typically performed when a problem is suspected, so the benefits outweigh the risk.
After the procedure u shouldnt lift weight (anything weighing more than 10-15 pounds), exercise or other vigorous physical activity (including sex)...
If you found
1. spotting, heavy discharge or leakage of fluid
2. Excessive cramping (lasting longer than 30 min)
3. A fever which develops with in 48hrs
4. Excessive pain or swelling at site of the procedure..u should immediately call the doctor or health care provider.
In my case, I didnt find any such thing..I am perfectly alright. And they said most of them are..Till then they did around more than 2000 cases, none called them with problem....
thats it...

Downsyndrome
Long time no see...My due date is december 6th..yep I am pregnant, thats y cudnt write blogs as usual (ennamo en blogkaga oru cue iruka madiri buildup)..I did ultrasound during my 3rd month, and we got the result as, increased risk of downsyndrome...so they suggested amniocentesis test...Aminiocentesis is an invasive procedure, there they’ll inject needle in to your uterus and will collect the amniotic fluid around the baby and will do the test…In this test, u’ll get 95% perfect result. When we went to do the test, we first met the genetic counselor, she explained everything about the test,
how they do that,
what for they are doing this test,
what they will find in this test,
what r the risk involved in that,
what precaution I should take after the test,
And what r the symptoms I shouldnt take easy after the test, and should immediately call the doctor etc..
So I got a clear picture about the test. I even asked her about the downsyndrome test, how they calculate that percentage. And she said they will compare three things, Nuchal translucency (from ultrasound), PAPP and hcG (hormone responsible for pregnancy), PAPP and hcG from blood test. They will compare these three and she said NT should be below 1, hcG above 1, I forgot about PAPP its also below or above 1..
When she explained it, I found mine is in the border stage. My HcG is perfect, rest two in the border I mean its not in the normal ratio, but not too high. I felt certain I will definitely get a good result, I mean negative result in amnio..so when she asked me again whether I want to go for it, I said yes coz I want to know for certain…we did it, and got the result as negative, All trisomy, downsyndrome everything negative. And the funny part is, when kash called them and asked them about the result they said they cant tell him (!!), they will tell the result only to me…;-D I felt the whole procedure quite amazing. Patient know perfectly what they are doing, why they are doing that..I guess we got some of the doctors like that, who explains things to patients…but not everyone …In each and every field I guess we have to improve a lot…
Will write about the amniocentesis risks and procedure in my next blog

Mood swings
Scheduled my appointment with another doctor, another hospital, near my home...Selecting the doctor is really stressing..In india we know few doctors and their reputation...so its easy to select...here in U.S..since I dont know anybody, Idk whether I am choosing the right doctor, first they told a doctor name who is available on the date I want to schedule, she is new, who joined recently to the hospital..I wanted to go for experianced doctor..I felt so coz I she can give good advice with her experiance, but my husband told me another aspect, since she is new, she will be so dedicated, she will want to establish herself in her new job...mm point taken...so we decided to try the experianced doctor, if could not get her appoinment go for this new doctor...but I got appointment with experianced doctor..now its like oh is it right, i could've gone with the new doctor...mmm onnum solrathuku illai...hope the one I am scheduled is very good...
Mood swings ya I do have..whenever I think of my bro's marriage I want to go to India...but we decided if we plan to have the delivery here in U.S its better to avoid the 44hrs journey..but during weekdays, I will think of going to india, during weekend I will settle with staying here...I am just swinging between these ideas...missing my bro's marriage is really really too hard...and both my bro's r getting married in 3,4 months marriage...:-(

What not to do?
1. If you have a pet, esp cat dont do cleaning cat litter boxes and stuff.
2. Dont drink or eat unpasturized milk, apple juice, cheese.
3. Avoid smoking and drinking. Limit drinking coffee and tea, twice in a day is fine I guess.
4. Since I am a vegetarian, I dont know about non veg things, but heard avoid raw or lightly cooked egg.
5. Never take any OTC tablets in your pregnancy period without consulting your doctor.
6. Avoid Hot tubs.
Mom told me not to eat Papaya, annasi, ellu for indians it will suit as its a hot country.
Friends told me to peel the apple before eating it, coz in the first trimester if you vomit, it will be so irritating if you didnt peel. If you want to avoid vomitting, dizziness eat something 2hours once and dont leave the stomach empty as it would increase the dizziness. Its working for me.
Apart from that avoid too much microwave heating food, though there is no scientific proof for that, its better safe than sorry. Once in a while ok. First trimester avoid these house cleaning agents smell, you urself wont feel like smelling it anyway.
Check your prenatal tablets vitamin A should not be more than 10000 I.U per day. We already have vitamin A in our intake, in milk etc so try to get a prenatal tablet which has vitamin A 100% as beta carotene, consult with your doctor about it.
Mayonnise - check the egg content if it is pasturized or unpasturized, so depends on that avoid it.
Ok will write what to eat in my next post..til then byee
take care all of u

How to get the right size of Blue to red acid (BRA)?

Blue to red acid is the codeword we used during schooldays for BRA hee hee. Anyway I wanted to write an article about it in women's section in my prev office before I quit. But I cudnt at that time. It might look trivial, I know there are cup sizes A,B, C, D when I read an article in outlook, during my PG not too late (!!??###@@**) but still, most of the girls r so shrewd, they knew this already. This blog is dedicated to those who didnt have an idea abt it.
During pregnancy, definitely u may need to change your bra. Though the below measurement is suitable for most of the ppl, for some it may differ. This is the usual, typical measurement. I guess it will atleast help to choose.
All you need is an inch tape. You need to measure 2 variables (!!??).
1.Bra size and2. cup size.
Measure under your breast, I mean its the measurement around your chest under your breast. Take this measurement and add 5 to it, will give you the bra size. If it is an odd number add 1 to it, make it even, For example, if that measurement is 26 + 5 will give you, 31, so you can try either 32 or 30, try both the sizes to find the right fit.
To find the cup size, measure around your fullest part of the breast (usually over the nipples). Subract this measurement with the one you find for your bra size, this will give you the cupsize. For example if it is 34, 34-32 will give you 2inches. So you can try B cup. Below is the table to give you the idea about cup sizes.
0 -1/2 inch - AA
1/2 - 1 inch - A
1 - 21/2 inch - B
21/2 -31/2 - C
31/2 - 41/2 - D
41/2 - 6 - DD or E
6 - 7 - DDD or F
7 - 8 - G and so on...
Or to make it simple,
1 inch - A
2 inch - B
3 inch - C
4 inch - D
5,6,7 - DD, DDD, DDDD respectively
8 - FF
9 - G
10 - H, 11 -I, 12 - J.....
To sum it up, find the band or frame size, add 5 to it, make it even by adding or subtracting one, try both the sizes.
find the bust size, subract it with bra size, difference gives u the cup size.
Example : Band size = 28 + 5 = 33 (try either 34 or 32)
Bust size = 36 -> 36 - 32 = 4 inch, so the cup is D try 34 D or 32 D..
voila I guess u got the right size!
First 6 weeks
I dont have any symptoms like vomitting, nausea, morning sickness (lucky me) in the first 30-35 days but my breast become tender and sore, bumps on the areola which is called montgomery glands are visible. Just on the 31st day when I did EPA test at home, its positive.
After 40 days, I have this dizziness and vomitting sensation. Taste is changing day by day. One day I like rice, another day I hate it even the look of it. Smell of mustard seeds, tamarind taste irritates me sometimes. Even agarbathi smell which I luv before pregnancy.
Constipation is another problem. Have to take more fluid, fibrous food. Hot water and Hot milk helps a lot for constipation. And for dizziness mom told me to have Rice, hotwater, salt combo..it works well yesterday. But till today I feel full, didnt feel like eat anything.
On 6 week went to the doctor, they did the same urine test and confirmed it. Other that we did blood test to know Hb count and stuffs, waiting for the result. Its like you should see the doc every month in the beginning of your pregnancy, and then near delivery its weekly once, which is what i heard from the doctor.
Will post what to do, what not to do in my next post..till then byeee.
