20 Weeks pregnant

mmm for the past few days I felt my baby's movement, its something like if someone touches you with a single finger how would u feel, I dont know how to explain it, like before u hit the koli, caramboard coin the way u do to hit the coin, same way inside if someone does, thats the movement u feel, its very little movement but u'll feel that. sometimes on the left side, sometimes on the right side, sometimes on the center...its cute...If I didnt feel that movement from morning till eve sometimes I will go crazy because of the way I sleep during night. He does that in the early mornings so often, he is active during that time, thank god he is not like me ;-D...yeah but thats the time i wont move much,so he is free to move..rest of the times if u move he'll stop his activities..yep with the amniocentesis test I came to know its a boyyyy..

During night I used to sleep on the left side but sometimes i rollover and sleep on the right side too..but half of my tummy will be like inside the bed..so in the morning i feel like I might've hurted the baby with the way I sleep..I hope I didnt..but everymorning I have that feeling I couldnt avoid that...but there is no other way u can sleep obviously either left or right, u cant sleep in straight form after sometime u wont feel comfortable, though u feel its nice for the back ;-D...if anyone has any opinion abt this do add a comment. I am soo worried about hurting the baby....I do keep pillows below the tummy and in between my legs sometime but not all the time thought...22nd week ultrasound will help me in this I guess when i see the baby I may feel good. I guess I should have some ultrasound kinda system at home to make sure ;-D..

I really started enjoying the pregancy now ;-D coz of the movements which is so special for the mommy..yeah dad cant feel it now ;-D

SPD exercises and tips

Yesterday I went to my second session with my Physiotherapist.....she suggested few tips which she got from a website and also suggested one more exercise to do at home....but very lightly...

Tighten stomach muscles, then slowly raise your bums off floor. Hold 5 seconds, relax repeat the same for 5times first if u felt relief slowly increase the count to 10times, do it 1-2 sessions per day...gently,no pain..

and ppl who have the same problem can try this, but which one might've different prbs coz of that they might got the pain...so try it once or twice see if u find any small relief in your pain then continue..when i turn the bed and try to tighten the stomach muscles I felt the pain is little less than before..so I continued to do that...

Tips:
* Use a pillow between your legs when sleeping; body pillows are a great investment!
* Use a pillow under your 'bump' (pregnancy tummy) when sleeping
* Keep your legs and hips as parallel/symmetrical as possible when moving or turning in bed
* Some women also find it helpful to have their partners stabilize their hips and hold them 'together' when rolling over in bed or otherwise adjusting position
* Some women report a waterbed mattress to be helpful
* Silk/satin sheets and nighties may make it easier to turn over in bed
* Swimming may help relieve pressure on the joint (many sites recommend avoiding breaststroke but Kmom did not find it to be a problem at all for her; see what works for you)
* Deep water aerobics or deep water running may be helpful as well (there are flotation devices to help you stay afloat easily during this; you do not need to know how to swim in order to do this)
* Keep your legs close together and move symmetrically (other sources recommend a very small gap between the legs with symmetrical movement)
* When standing, stand symmetrically, with your weight evenly distributed through both legs
* Sit down to get dressed, especially when putting on underwear or pants
* Avoid 'straddle' movements
* Swing your legs together as a unit when getting in and out of cars; use plastics or something smooth and slippery (like a garbage bag) on the car seat to help you enter car backwards and then turn your legs as a unit
* An ice pack may feel soothing and help reduce inflammation in the pubic area; painkillers may also help
* Move slowly and without sudden movements
* If sex is uncomfortable for you, use lots of pillows under your knees, or try other positions
* If bending over to pick up objects is difficult, there are devices available that can help with this
* Really severe cases may need crutches, although these should probably only be used as a last resort
* Sciatica may be helped by stretching the hamstring muscles with a stirrup around your foot (long piece of rope, two neck ties tied together, etc.) See the Elizabeth Noble book for directions (resources)
* Back pain can often be helped by resting backwards over a large gymnastic or 'birth' ball (see resources)
* Some women report that pelvic binders/maternity support belts are helpful for pelvic pain; brands in the U.S. include Prenatal Cradle or BabyHugger or the Reenie Belt. However, if the pelvic bones are really misaligned, some women report more pain with these. Listen to your body on whether to use these

18weeks 5 days!

yeah thats what my pregnancy calculator says...mmm I didnt feel any difference except i have this back pain and my tummy is little big..but I do have groin pain. Doctor said few get it in their 8th month, but some get it early too.....They said the pubic bones now will loosen up to make the delivery easier and sometimes, for some ppl it will cause pain. Its called SPD...symphysis pubic dysfunction...(SPD)

For me I feel the pain when i turn left to right in bed or vice versa, when i walk for a while, when I sat for sometime and stand I feel the sharp pain on my left side of groin...its little worse during night turning over the bed, when i change my dress...Doctor told me to consult a physiotherapist and we went there yesterday, and also she suggested to try to wear my dress by sitting keeping both legs together (it works i didnt feel the pain when i change my dress like that), She said my hip bone alignment is very slightly above and below, its asymmetric...but very little..that may be the cause for the pain..she told me to squeeze the tummy i mean while u do situp u'll do, it will come together right something like when u sit and watch tv, she told me to do that as a exercise slightly (not by hand, or not by holding breath) and I have enrolled for 8 classes...oh baby..I started to feel the pain from the month of may, May end...we went for a hike in columbia gorge its just 2-3 miles hike...so after that I started feeling this I guess if I rem correctly.....all i pray to god is this pain shouldnt cause any trouble during delivery....

I checked the internet and found few has worse pain in that area, but mine is bearable, most of the ppl I know didnt even know what it is :-(...

but rest is fine, no vomitting, I eat well...no prbs with smells, but still I didnt try adding sesame seeds (kadugu) though for sambar, rasam, poriyal etc..started cooking, cleaning etc all the household works..i feel normal as before...2nd trimester is really good...

ppl who r in U.S check out babysrus, I heard they have free prenatal exercises and classes so check it out on the internet whether its true, i have to, i heard from a friend didnt check whether its applicable in my area babys r us...

Amniocentesis procedure

Why they do that?
This test is performed to detect chromosomal disorders. If in your 3rd month ultrasound they found increased risk in downsyndrome, they will suggest you to do this. Since ultrasound test false positive rate is high. But amniocentesis 95% u'll get perfect result. u can even say 99%.

How it is performed?
ultrasound guided procedure, so harming the baby, u can say .001%. Usually experts only do this procedure. They will find the exact location of fetus thru ultrasound, long thin needle is inserted through the abdomen and in to the uterus. A small amount of amniotic fluid, which surrounds the baby is collected for the test.

How painful it is?
I did the test. I didnt feel the pain at all. Its just a min procedure..If they found the baby move inside or towards the needle will wait for 10-15 sec..In my case, I was looking at the monitor when they insert the needle, I found the baby is moving as though he want to grab the needle, so I was little worried about that.....but everything is fine. Waiting period for the test result is little painful ;-D...

Risks involved...
There is a slight chance of infection or injury to the fetus. There is even a smaller chance of miscarriage. This test is typically performed when a problem is suspected, so the benefits outweigh the risk.

After the procedure u shouldnt lift weight (anything weighing more than 10-15 pounds), exercise or other vigorous physical activity (including sex)...

If you found
1. spotting, heavy discharge or leakage of fluid
2. Excessive cramping (lasting longer than 30 min)
3. A fever which develops with in 48hrs
4. Excessive pain or swelling at site of the procedure..u should immediately call the doctor or health care provider.

In my case, I didnt find any such thing..I am perfectly alright. And they said most of them are..Till then they did around more than 2000 cases, none called them with problem....

thats it...

karparakshambigai slogam another

This one I got from my friend. she said, her mom got it from the temple. Its very simple and small than the previous one.

Karparakshambigai thaye

Downsyndrome

I have crossed few more weeks. Now I am in my 5th month..

Long time no see...My due date is december 6th..yep I am pregnant, thats y cudnt write blogs as usual (ennamo en blogkaga oru cue iruka madiri buildup)..I did ultrasound during my 3rd month, and we got the result as, increased risk of downsyndrome...so they suggested amniocentesis test...Aminiocentesis is an invasive procedure, there they’ll inject needle in to your uterus and will collect the amniotic fluid around the baby and will do the test…In this test, u’ll get 95% perfect result. When we went to do the test, we first met the genetic counselor, she explained everything about the test,

how they do that,

what for they are doing this test,

what they will find in this test,

what r the risk involved in that,

what precaution I should take after the test,

And what r the symptoms I shouldnt take easy after the test, and should immediately call the doctor etc..

So I got a clear picture about the test. I even asked her about the downsyndrome test, how they calculate that percentage. And she said they will compare three things, Nuchal translucency (from ultrasound), PAPP and hcG (hormone responsible for pregnancy), PAPP and hcG from blood test. They will compare these three and she said NT should be below 1, hcG above 1, I forgot about PAPP its also below or above 1..

When she explained it, I found mine is in the border stage. My HcG is perfect, rest two in the border I mean its not in the normal ratio, but not too high. I felt certain I will definitely get a good result, I mean negative result in amnio..so when she asked me again whether I want to go for it, I said yes coz I want to know for certain…we did it, and got the result as negative, All trisomy, downsyndrome everything negative. And the funny part is, when kash called them and asked them about the result they said they cant tell him (!!), they will tell the result only to me…;-D I felt the whole procedure quite amazing. Patient know perfectly what they are doing, why they are doing that..I guess we got some of the doctors like that, who explains things to patients…but not everyone …In each and every field I guess we have to improve a lot…

Will write about the amniocentesis risks and procedure in my next blog
